Selah Media Productions

This blog is all about helping churches and church tech people with the challenges associated with using multimedia technology in our ministries. After being a music teacher and worship leader for over 20 years, I started a business/ministry to address these challenges - Selah Media Productions. My main desire is to form relationships with churches and musicians to be a resource for them. We supply sound, lighting, video projection and musical equipment from literally thousands of companies, have a recording studio, do disk duplication and EDUCATE.

I grew up in the Presbyterian church as a child, but my parents were heavily involved in the Christian community in Raleigh, NC. As a result, I saw all kinds of churches, and ministries such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I gained a real perspective at an early age of how awesome the kingdom of God is, and how diversity in styles of worship is a great thing. I received a music ed degree from Appalachian State University in 1985, taught in the public schools and was a worship leader at a church in Boone, NC. As a worship leader and a musician, I had a real desire to apply myself in learning audio engineering - both in the studio and live. I have to say that I love both environments - live production and the studio. I took what I learned and applied it in the church I was involved with: Living Water in Boone NC. We did contemporary worship when it wasn't cool! The Lord has used all of these experiences to bring me where I am today (HE is good at that!)

Everywhere I go, it seems that technology is not being utilized to the fullest in the worship context, or worse yet, being utilized incorrectly. I have met many great people, with big-time servants hearts that struggle with PA systems, lighting, and video presentation. As well, I see churches spend a lot of money, and not always get the performance out of the gear that they expected. I do believe that my call is to help these folks, to come along side of them and bring my experience to bear on each situation. That being said, I want to help each church fulfill the vision God has given to it, not come in with my "agenda".

Hopefully the articles I write, and the comments you leave will be helpful. I will be covering topics across the spectrum about the use of technology in the ministry, contemporary worship,
the church in 2009, etc.

And for sure, if you need help, please contact me!

Bless You!
Buck

(Col 3:16-17) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. {17} And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
